25 Aug 2016 Wiltshire snatch victory by half a point Wiltshire successfully defended their title in the English Boys’ County Championship, winning by just a half point from Yorkshire after a tense day of thrilling golf.Jake Bolton scored the winning point for Wiltshire after playing round in five-under par and closing out his game 3/2. “It is an unbelievable feeling,” he said. “We work great as a team, we’ve got such good team spirit.“We knew Yorkshire were still in it this afternoon but we just focussed on our own game and didn’t worry about them.”The teams had tied at the end of the championship with two match wins apiece after Wiltshire beat Northamptonshire 5.5-3.5 today and Yorkshire defeated Hertfordshire 6.5-2.5. But Wiltshire snatched the victory with 16 points from games won, while Yorkshire fell just short with 15.5.At the start of the day, when all four teams were still in with a chance of taking the title, it was Yorkshire who made the first move. They won their foursomes against Hertfordshire 2-1, while Wiltshire and Northamptonshire shared the points.In the afternoon Yorkshire were again quick off the mark. Barclay Brown and Charlie Thornton both completed their 100 per cent scoring record of six wins from six matches with sub-par golf as they sped to wins of 5/3 and 7/6 respectively. Saturday teams play round robin before concluding Sunday with divisional finals.All action is set for the Lakeside playing fields.The tournament is in honour of Terry Walgren, a longtime coach in Nelson — who skippered teams in Nelson Youth Soccer as well as men’s and women’s teams.Walgren, a graduate of Nelson Youth Soccer, played high school and men’s league soccer before going off to university where played for Simon Fraser and University of Alberta in Edmonton.Walgren, who returned to coach in the NYS rep program along with playing men’s league for the Heritage Innkeepers, died of cancer. The Lakeside Pitches will be filled with excitement as the Nelson Youth Soccer hosts the annual Terry Walgren Tournament beginning Saturday.Teams from Penticton, Montana, Trail-Castlegar, Cranbrook and Fernie join the host Nelson Selects during two days of roundball action in U12 Jamboree and Rep Tournament.
Virgin Australia may have a solution to one of the perennial problems of flying – missing the end of a movie when a flight ends – as it moves to introduce Wi-Fi on its domestic international flights from the middle of next year.The airline is keen to avoid bandwidth-gobbling video streaming so passengers can quickly download popular functions such as email and web-surfing when it starts the new service.One way it may do this is by bolstering the content held in on-board computer servers and allowing passengers download personalised entertainment packages.This would allow them to watch a film or box set series and pick up a program where they left off on their return journey.“Basically you’ve got the storage technology in aircraft that now actually allows you to hold a lot of the content so you can have anyone on a 300-seat aircraft with literally their favourite movies without them having them stream it over the satellite.’’ said John Thomas, the incoming head of the airline’s domestic and international operations.Mr Thomas said inflight internet performed best when passengers were not using expensive satellite bandwidth to stream video. A better idea would be store the films on board and keep people’s preferences for a period of time, say 24 hours. “I can start watching the series on the Sydney-Melbourne in the morning and on the way back I can actually pick up where I left off in what’s in the services on the way back,’’ he said.Virgin chief executive John Borghetti announced the decision to introduce the inflight Wi-Fi at the US launch of the airline’s new international business class in Los Angeles.The new service will be introduced across the airline’s Being 737-800, Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft and Mr Borghetti promised it be “‘one of the world’s leading connectivity and entertainment services’’.“We are determined to give Virgin Australia consumers the best possible connectivity and entertainment experience in the air,” Mr Borghetti said. “As well as providing access to email and social media, inflight Wi-Fi will improve the travel experience by providing guests with up-to-date information about connecting flights and their travel plans.’’Australian airlines have been relatively slow to adopt inflight internet, mainly for technical and cost reasons. Internet access on aircraft in the past has been slow and a trial of the technology by Qantas several years ago produced a lukewarm response from passengers.But improvements in technology and a greater desire among consumers to remain connected has made access an increasingly important differentiator among competing airlines.Qantas is also looking at Wi-Fi and has announced it will install it on domestic flights but also has yet to announce details.Qantas has said its service will be free while Virgin could follow the lead of other carriers and charge for access.Virgin will have the impressive new business class suite on all five of its B777 international aircraft by September and the Virgin boss said the airline had already started a marketing campaign to convince Perth passengers to connect via its Airbus A330 services to Sydney.The A330 service has a similar suite so well-heeled Perth passengers can enjoy the upmarket amenities through to the US and Mr Borghetti said there had already been a good response.Virgin also revealed that it would be moving from the Tom Bradley International Terminal to the nearby facilities run by alliance partner Delta Air Lines next year. The move will allow faster and more convenient connections between the two airlines. It’s the last item and the most important one to complete our preparation for this great event.”Foster and his family have also invested in a wall-to-wall 10-seater couch, new braai stand, vuvuzelas and football jerseys to get into the spirit of the game. “We bought a big brown couch because we will be hosting many of our friends for braais during the World Cup,” he said. “My friends and family love football, but we could not afford to get tickets to all the games, so we are creating the same vibe in our own house.”Hundreds of kilometres away, in the small village of Impendle in KwaZulu-Natal, entrepreneur Thokozani Dlamini is determined to bring all the action to as many families as he can – especially those who only have radio as a means of following big sports matches.“I’ve been speaking to local schools and ward councillors to get permission to put up televisions in school and community halls, where people can go to watch the games,” he said.Dlamini said he has ordered five television sets and is now trying to secure convenient venues where people can congregate for games. “There are no official fan parks here and not all people have electricity or televisions, so they might end up missing this great event. I want people to get the chance to see this great tournament that’s taking place in Africa for the first time.”Spirit sweeps the nationBut even in this village, where sports coverage is slight, World Cup spirit is everywhere. Many of the modest mud huts now have flags flying from the roofs, and bare-footed children dribble and kick balls in the streets, imitating their favourite African players. Local supermarket shelves are stacked high with brightly coloured vuvuzelas and supporter T-shirts.“In South African culture we enjoy watching great historical events together,” said Ntombisonke Sithole, a teacher from Impendle. “I remember when Nelson Mandela came out of prison – we all congregated in one house around a small black-and-white TV, just to see this great event unfold.“During big [football] league games people gather together to share hot pap and meat, and watch the match at someone’s house with beers in hand. It would be great if we could get venues during the World Cup, so people can go and watch the games together. This World Cup is as great a historical event as Mandela’s release.”In the neighbouring Free State province, in the World Cup host city of Bloemfontein, fans are preparing their own brand of festivities. Here people are well-known for being passionate supporters of the local football team, Bloemfontein Celtic, and they treat the sport as something of a religion.They even have certain rituals before big games. Supporters meet in the nearby Mangaung township early on match days, and then go to a local beer hall to enjoy a meal of pap and meat, washed down with their favourite local brew. Later they start singing supporter songs to build spirit, which soon catches on in other parts of the community.It’s then time for the team mascots to get into their outfits and lead the crowds to the stadium with song and dance. They wear green and white overalls, the colours of Celtic, and paint their faces in the colours of the South African flag.Botha Msila, one of the team’s main mascots who professes to be Celtic’s number-one fan, said locals here are excited about the World Cup and thrilled at the prospect of meeting and entertaining foreigners.Often dressed in a white lab coat and a shower cap, Msila is a prominent feature at local football matches in the Free State.“Our role is not to just cheer our teams on, but to also entertain and make our visitors feel welcome,” he said. Apparently, supporters in the area have even learnt a few greetings and songs from other countries participating in the tournament, so they can help the visitors celebrate.“We hope they will join us in Mangaung when we warm up before heading to games, and sing with us on the streets when we head to the stadium. We want them to feel safe here. The only spirit they should feel is the spirit of Africa, and the spirit of the World Cup.”

It also occurs in the form of unsafe practices. 45% of respondents admitted that they engage in practices most companies would forbid.For example, 46% of these individuals indicated that they have connected to public Wi-Fi to access confidential information. Even with precautions like a VPN or secured remote access in place, connecting to publicly accessible Wi-Fi networks pose an increased risk.Another 49% of these respondents shared that they use personal email accounts for work. This particular type of breach has made headlines in recent years as several high-profile United States government employees were discovered to have been conducting sensitive information on private email servers.In January, security analysts were shocked to discover that the official Twitter account of the President of the United States was secured with a Gmail email account.This survey shed light on how easy it is for well-meaning employees to play fast-and-loose with their company’s security policies. We share our health information with cloud-based services that track our food and heart rate, our financial data with e-commerce sites, and so much more.Phishing employees for company informationThis security of our data is only as strong as the security of the company information to whom we trust that data. Quite often, large data breaches and other leaks of private data comes about as the result of phishing exhibitions from the outside. Hackers and other malicious individuals conning employees to share company information that helps them to infiltrate their networks.Verizon released a report last year detailing how big of a threat phishing attempts are to enterprise security. There’s been no shortage of ultra-high-sensitivity cameras released over the last year, but Sony’s latest offering — the UMC-S3C — might just have the competition beat.Sony recently announced their new 4K camera — the UMC-S3C, which, despite its dull name, packs a lot of punch. This interchangeable-lens Super 35mm camera is impressive not only because of its abundance of features (including an ISO range of 50 – 409,600), but also because of its small footprint. While Sony hasn’t yet announced the camera’s exact dimensions, they have stated that it’ll be “The most compact camera in Sony’s full-frame lineup.”And here are the specs: Image capture at under 0.004Lx Full-Frame 35mm Exmor sensor ISO Range: 50-409600Multiple mounting pointsSony E-mountMultiple remote camera control options400g weight.XAVC-S 4K up to 100 MbpsClearly this is a camera designed for very specific purposes. According to Sony, they believe it will be useful for: Disaster response; wildlife monitoring; landscape mapping or surveying; surveillance, inspections and investigations; live camera; and as a dashboard/professional point-of-view camera.With that in mind, in the TV/film world, this camera may just find a home on reality television show sets or on certain types of documentary projects.While there are some other competitors out there at the moment, namely Canon’s ME20F-SH, the new Sony low-light camera may be a better option for these reasons:1. 4K CapabilitiesMany similar low-light cameras are limited to recording in HD resolution, including the Canon ME20F-SH. This is likely because a larger pixel size is often required to gather more light and produce cleaner low-light images. That said, the fact that Sony’s new camera can not only capture extremely high ISO images cleanly, but can do so at 4K resolution, will make it preferable over the competitors.2. Internal RecordingUnlike the Canon ME20F-SH and some other specialty cameras, the UMC-S3C will allow for internal recording. Sony hasn’t yet announced what type of memory cards the camera will take, but based on the codec, we might assume that they’ll be using standard SDXC cards. If so, that will certainly make this camera far simpler to use in a real world scenario when compared to the Canon alternative.3. A More Compact DesignWhile we don’t yet have the exact dimensions of this camera, there’s no question that it’s designed to be very compact and will likely be easier to mount in a variety of situations. Whether it’s used on a drone, in a car, strapped to a helmet, or elsewhere — the physical size alone of this camera will open up many possibilities that simply wouldn’t exist with larger high-ISO cameras.Final ThoughtsThere are still many details that will emerge with regards to this camera; more specs will be released, pricing will be announced, and test footage will come out, which will be the true determinant as to whether or not the camera will be used professionally.
